Falafel

Falafel:
This deep fried protein rich traditional snack called Falafel is the ultimate street food of the Middle Eastern countries.
Though Falafel looks like Dal vada or Ambode, the taste is different. It's a very popular snack not only in Middle East, but all over the world.
Falafel is a deep fried patty made from chick peas. It is usually served as a snack. It can also be served as a main coarse with Pita Breads, salad, Hummus and some picked sauces.
I have added some ingredients to suit our palate but i am sure i have not spoilt the original taste of the Falafel.

Ingredients:
1. Chick Peas or Kabuli chana: 250 gms
2. Parsley: one small Bunch
3. Coriander leaves: one small Bunch
4. Garlic: 8-10 cloves
5. Onion: one medium sized
6. Green chillies: 2 nos
7. Cumin powder: 2 tsp
8. Coriander powder: 1 tsp
9. Salt to taste
10. Soda: one pinch

Preparation:
Soak the chick Peas overnight. Drain out the excess water and keep aside.
Chop the onions.
Chop the coriander leaves and Parsley.

Procedure:
1. Put the chick peas to a food processor along with onions and garlic and grind coarsely.
2. Transfer to a bowl.
3. Put all the ingredients except soda and mix well.
4. Put in a pinch of soda to make the mixture light and fluffy.
5. Make small balls ot patties and deep fry in medium hot oil.
6. Serve hot with Hummus and Tahini and cucumber salad.
